NEW YORK (AP) - Members of the New York City Council are expected to vote next week to raise their pay to $148,500 a year.

The Wall Street Journal (https://on.wsj.com/1QKYIob ) says that’s a 32 percent increase over the lawmakers’ current pay of $112,500.

The proposal also would limit council members’ outside income.

Council members’ last pay raise was in 2006.

The City Council has 51 members. All but three are Democrats.

The vote will be held Feb. 5.
