DONEGAL, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania police officer has been jailed on charges he tried to rape a woman last month.

Thirty-three-year-old John Andrew Brown was charged Friday by the state police. He’s an officer in Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County,

Troopers say Brown brought the woman home to nearby Donegal on Dec 3. Once in Brown’s bedroom, the woman says Brown grabbed at her and tried to pull off her clothes. Police say he also made remarks about rough sex and persisted for 30 minutes while the woman refused.

The woman told police two visitors arrived about 3:30 a.m. and that she joined them outside and asked them to get her “out of here.”

Brown’s attorney, Valerie Veltri, declined comment Friday.

Mount Pleasant police confirmed his employment, but say the incident was off-duty and outside their jurisdiction.
