ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Two teens are accused of grand theft and carjacking after authorities say they stole a vehicle from a retired Volusia County Sheriff’s deputy.

Sixty-seven-year-old Richard Conway told Ormond Beach police he stopped behind a building Wednesday to look for a trash bin to dump oil and grease. He left his new Nissan running with the door open.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (https://bit.ly/1m0cpmh ) reports Conway saw a teen jump into his car. The former deputy says he ran to his car, opened the door and grabbed the teen.

An incident report says the teen accelerated, dragging Conway for a short distance before he fell and hit his head.

Sheriff’s spokesman Andrew Gant says two 16-year-old teen were arrested the next day after crashing Conway’s car into an investigator in an unmarked car.
