BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A woman who stole more than $288,000 from a Billings car dealership has been sentenced to five years of probation.

The Billings Gazette reports (https://goo.gl/xnKAQu) 51-year-old Renee Ann Zinnecker was sentenced in federal court Wednesday after previously pleading guilty to wire fraud.

Prosecutors say she embezzled cash while working as an office manager at Lithia Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge from 2005 to 2014.

Zinnecker said she spent the stolen money on groceries, clothes, utilities, her children’s cellphone bills and to pay off medical bills. She acknowledged using some of the money to eat out and see movies.

At her sentencing hearing, Zinnecker apologized, saying she wanted to give her children things she never had.
