NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police say a man has died after a Bronx apartment fire.

Police say the 36-year-old man was having a heart attack when he was found by firefighters after an emergency call early Sunday.

They say firefighters responding to the 2:41 a.m. 911 call extinguished the third-floor fire in the Wakefield neighborhood apartment and found the man.

Emergency Medical Services transported him to Montefiore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The fire marshal does not believe the cause of the fire is suspicious.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released pending notification of family.
