FORT BRAGG, Calif. (AP) - Police said a pickup truck and dog belonging to a man found dead in his Northern California home have been found in Southern California.

Fort Bragg police Sgt. Brandon Lee said officers conducting a welfare check found Dennis Boardman on the floor of his home on Saturday.

Police did not release manner of Boardman’s death, but said the suspicious nature of the discovery launched a homicide investigation. Detectives issued a statewide alert for Boardman’s missing pickup truck and Rottweiler.

Lee said police learned on Sunday that Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies located the truck in Carpinteria on Wednesday, and got the dog out of the vehicle.

The truck was taken as evidence in the case.

Police did not release information about the suspect, citing the ongoing investigation.
