COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) - A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after crashing his car into a tree along the fairway of an Orange County golf course.

Police in Costa Mesa say Steven James Anderson suffered minor injuries in the crash Saturday that ended with his car on fire. Sgt. Bryan Wadkins says Anderson is suspected of fleeing a previous crash on State Route 55 in which he struck another car.

The Orange County Register reports (https://bit.ly/1mwiBD0) Anderson sped off the freeway and allegedly took out 30 feet of fencing before driving onto the municipal golf course.

He was arrested after trying to run from the crash site.

The Costa Mesa resident could face DUI and hit-and-run charges. It wasn’t immediately known if he has a lawyer.
