NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say a 22-year-old woman was the city’s first homicide victim of the year.

Officer Garry Flot says the woman was among three people shot in apparently unrelated incidents between 7:36 p.m. and 8:49 p.m. Saturday.

Flot says the coroner’s office will release her name. He says police were called to a hospital where a private vehicle brought her, and were told she was dead on arrival.

He says the other victims were men. Flot says one was hit in the foot by drive-by shooters as he sat on a porch, and the other was shot in the buttocks. Further details were not available.

The department’s summary of major offenses on Saturday and early Sunday also described six armed robberies: five with guns and one with a knife.
