CANAVERAL NATIONAL SEASHORE, Fla. (AP) - Three endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtles have been released in the waters off Canaveral National Seashore.

Florida Today (https://on.flatoday.com/1StKBE0 ) reports experts from SeaWorld Orlando returned the rare sea turtles to the ocean. The turtles were rescued in New England in 2014 and spent more than 13 months in rehabilitation at SeaWorld. They are the last of 72 turtles that were rescued after a mass stranding off the Massachusetts coast.

The turtlesgained quite a bit of weight during their rehabilitation. When they arrived in Orlando, the trio each weighed between 4.1 and 4.6 pounds. Each now weighs somewhere between 9 and 15.8 pounds.
