CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The 2016 presidential candidates are kicking off the new year in New Hampshire as they prepare to sprint toward the Feb. 9 primary.

Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton returns to the state on Sunday for town hall events in Derry and Keene. Her chief challenger, Bernie Sanders, will be in Londonderry, Plaistow and Newmarket.

On the Republican side, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie kicks off a multi-day tour with a town hall Sunday evening in Merrimack.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is hosting several town halls and watching his favored football team, the Miami Dolphins, play the New England Patriots from a country club in Atkinson.

The candidates will be stepping up their efforts in New Hampshire and Iowa, home of the first nominating contests, during the coming weeks.
