BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - A city in Michigan’s Thumb region is pursuing a $400,000 federal grant to conduct an assessment of brownfield properties.

MLive.com reports (bit.ly/1nVeTny) that the Bay City Commission is expected to approve a resolution Monday night supporting the Environmental Protection Agency funding application.

The money also would be used to clean up a number of brownfield sites, including a scrap yard in Bay City.

The newspaper reports that grant recipients will be notified this spring if they will receive the funding.
