ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The Empire Center says updated online data shows the 2015 payroll for New York state employees was $15.51 billion, up 1.8 percent from the year before.

The center posts the information on SeeThroughNY.net. It includes names, titles, base pay rates, and total pay of more than 291,000 individuals who worked in the state’s executive, legislative, or judicial branches at any point last year.

According to the Empire Center, which has government payroll records dating back to 2008, the state government ended 2015 with 227,326 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees, down from 229,041 a year earlier

The 2015 data show 1,797 state employees were paid more than Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s $179,000 salary.

The 50 highest-paid worked for either the State University of New York or the City University of New York.
