HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) - Hamden police are investigating a single-car crash that left one person dead.

Police responded around 3:15 a.m. Saturday near Whitney Avenue and Lincoln Street for a report of a crash.

Police say the vehicle was engulfed in flames, and the driver was found dead inside.

Police have not released the driver’s identity.

The Hartford Courant (https://cour.at/1P3KNos) reports that a preliminary investigation determined the vehicle crossed the center lines before going off the road and colliding with a building sign.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hamden police.
