SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A search is underway for an inmate who fled while being guarded at University Health hospital in Shreveport.

KTBS-TV (https://bit.ly/1Sj3if1 ) reports police were called to the facility just after 1 p.m. Saturday.

The inmate, identified as 25-year-old Byron Hardy of Shreveport, was at the hospital for an undetermined matter. Hardy had been held at the city jail on felony charges of home invasion, burglary of an inhabited dwelling and domestic abuse battery.

Hardy was last seen running eastbound on Kings Highway toward Samford Street. He’s described as a black male, about 5-feet-9 to 5-feet-10 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has several tattoos on his chest and arms and surgical scars along his mid-section.
