LIBERTY, Maine (AP) - Maine’s annual youth ice fishing derby is taking place at Lake St. George State Park, two weeks after the event was postponed due to a lack of ice.
The 7th Annual Youth Ice Fishing Derby will take over the park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. The event was originally scheduled to take place on Jan. 17 but organizers determined the ice wasn’t thick enough to hold the contest.
The derby is free for children under 12 and will cost $1.50 for everyone between 12 and 65. It is also free for those over 65.
