CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - Carlsbad police have made an arrest in a Christmas Eve drive-by shooting that resulted in a man getting hit in the face.

The Carlsbad Current-Argus reports (https://bit.ly/1PM948i) that Emanuel Olivas was arrested Friday on charges of shooting from a motor vehicle resulting in great bodily harm and shooting at a dwelling or occupied building.

Authorities say Robert England was sitting with a woman in his truck outside a home around 4:20 a.m. on Dec. 24 when someone sprayed bullets from a car.

One bullet struck England and is lodged near his brain stem. He is currently in stable but critical condition.

A criminal complaint says bullet casings came from a gun owned by Olivas.

It alleges the shooting was retaliation for a fight that did not involve England.
