PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A former dance instructor who served prison time for child rape in Massachusetts has been sentenced to prison for a related federal charge in Rhode Island.

The U.S. Attorney’s office in Providence says 37-year-old Keith Sampson, of South Easton, Massachusetts, was sentenced Friday to five years in prison followed by 10 years of probation. He pleaded guilty in November to traveling interstate to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

Prosecutors say the former Providence man in December 2007 brought a 15-year-old dance student from Rhode Island to Easton, Massachusetts, where he provided her with alcohol and sexually assaulted her.

Sampson served about seven years in state prison in connection with that case and an unrelated statutory rape conviction.

He was placed in federal custody following his release from prison in Massachusetts.
