BALTIMORE (AP) - Police in Baltimore say a man attempted to abduct a woman at gunpoint near Johns Hopkins University but the woman was able to get away.

Police say it happened Tuesday just before 7 p.m. Police say a woman walking in the 3200 block of North Charles Street was approached by a man driving a silver van and that the man pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the woman and demanded she get in the vehicle.

The woman fled and later contacted police.
