BELVIDERE, Ill. (AP) - A 20-year-old Rockford man has been sentenced to 33 years in prison for his role in an armed robbery that led to a woman’s death.

The Rockford Register-Star reports (https://bit.ly/1Sii45D) Ronaldo Fort was sentenced Friday in Boone County after being found guilty of armed robbery and armed violence.

Prosecutors say Fort and two other men were fleeing deputies after robbing a Belvidere cellphone store when their vehicle crashed into a car driven by 42-year-old Rockford attorney Karen Williams. The suspects and a Boone County deputy exchanged gunfire, but no one was struck.

Williams died a week later from her injuries.

D’Angelo Brooks and Bryant Locke also face charges in the 2014 incident, and Fort faces additional charges in Winnebago County.
