DOVER, Del. (AP) - Eric Eaves scored 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting to lead South Carolina State to a 56-41 win over Delaware State on Saturday.

Daryll Palmer added 10 points and 10 rebounds for South Carolina State (12-11, 7-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), which shot just 36 percent but got 16 assists on its 21 field goals. Eaves has scored at least 20 points in five of his last six games.

Delaware State (3-18, 2-5) trailed most of the game but kept within striking distance, cutting the gap to 22-21 early in the second half with DeAndre Haywood’s layup. The Bulldogs responded with an 11-1 burst that included a dunk from Palmer and a 3-point play from Eaves and led by double figures the rest of the way.

Haywood finished with 10 points to lead Delaware State, which hit just 2 of 20 from 3-point range and had 15 turnovers.
