BURLINGTON, Wis. (AP) - Vandals have toppled a statue of Abraham Lincoln that has stood for more than a century in the southeastern Wisconsin city of Burlington.

Burlington Historical Society vice president Don Vande Sand says police got a call shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday and have identified a suspect.

Vande Sand tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1Q25LUF ) the 8-foot-tall bronze statue does not appear to be seriously damaged. He says it’s unclear how the statue was toppled.

Chicago sculptor George Ganiere created the statue. It was a gift in 1912 from dentist Francis Meinhardt to mark the reopening of a town school as the Lincoln School.

Burlington celebrated a re-dedication of the statue in 2014.
