ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (AP) - A tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 95 near Rocky Mount closed one side of the roadway for hours as crews cleaned up hundreds of heads of spilled cabbage.

Lt. Jeff Gordon of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol tells local media outlets that the wreck happened at around 10:15 a.m. Sunday in Nash County.

Gordon says a tractor-trailer full of cabbage veered off the left side off the road, over-corrected, then overturned. The driver, 31-year-old Kevin Eugene Ellis, of Middleburg, Florida, faces several charges, including driving while impaired.

He and a woman in the truck with him were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and it wasn’t known if Ellis had an attorney.

Traffic was backed up for at least 10 miles during the cleanup.
