CHICAGO (AP) - A jury has found a Chicago man guilty of murder for providing a gun to his niece that was used to kill a 14-year-old girl.

Donnell Flora faced murder, attempted murder and aggravated battery charges. Authorities say he gave his teenage niece the loaded gun used in the April 2014 death of Endia Martin. The shooting occurred as Flora’s niece and the intended target were engaged in a fight over social media. The niece, now 16, awaits trial on murder charges in Juvenile Court.

The jury deliberated for two hours Saturday.

Flora testified he brought the gun to the confrontation but didn’t mean for it to end up in his niece’s hands.

Prosecutors argued that if it wasn’t for Flora, the gun wouldn’t have been at the scene and Martin would be alive.
