LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say a passenger was arrested at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport for allegedly trying to board an aircraft with heroin.

Lt. Jeff Goodwin told KSNV-TV (https://bit.ly/1nGnRp5) that a man was caught Sunday around 9:10 a.m. with “less than a pound of heroin” while on an American Airlines flight bound for Charlotte, North Carolina.

Goodwin says officers searched the plane for other narcotics.

American Airlines flight 436 was originally scheduled to depart at 9:30 a.m. According to the airline’s website, the plane left on time.

Police did not release the identity of the man arrested.
