BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (AP) - A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a woman authorities say was his ex-girlfriend.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the woman Saturday as 19-year-old Deanndra Roach. Authorities tell local media outlets a man walking his dog Friday found her lying unresponsive along a rural section of a road in Blythewood, northeast of Columbia.
Watts says she had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies arrested Andre Heatley Jr. early Saturday and charged him with murder. Deputies say Heatley and Roach had at one time been in a relationship and that he was seen on surveillance video using her debit card after her death.
Sheriff Leon Lott is planning to talk to reporters about the case Monday.
