OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Nebraskans are preparing for this week’s major snowstorm by fine-tuning plowing plans.

The National Weather Service the snow is expected to arrive Monday evening and continue through Tuesday across much of the state. Blizzard watches and warnings have been issued for most of Nebraska.

Forecasters say the storm could drop more than 8 inches of snow in places. And heavy snow and strong winds will combine Tuesday to make travel difficult.

Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert declared a snow emergency Sunday to help ensure streets will be clear enough to be plowed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Snow plows were pre-treating Omaha streets with brine on Sunday.
