ERIE, Pa. (AP) - Six people are homeless and a firefighter has been hurt after an early morning fire in northwestern Pennsylvania.

The Erie Times-News (https://bit.ly/1Z1YE8N ) reports a house was reported on fire shortly before 1 a.m. Monday and spread quickly on Erie’s East Side.

Three adults and two children escaped. A fourth adult was unaccounted for, but authorities believe that person wasn’t home when the fire started.

Erie fire Chief Tony Pol says one firefighter fell while evacuating the building and was taken to UPMC Hamot hospital with unspecified injuries.

The cause of the fire was being investigated.

The American Red Cross was helping the displaced residents find shelter.
