FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - The Florence County coroner says a boater whose body was found over the weekend in the Great Pee Dee River died of exposure to the cold.

Coroner Keith von Lutcken tells local media outlets that duck hunters found the body of 71-year-old James Michael King of Pamplico partially submerged in the river Saturday afternoon.

The coroner says it appears that King died New Year’s Eve afternoon. Authorities are investigating but say no foul play is suspected.
