HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - A Hattiesburg man has been arrested after his girlfriend was found dead in a home.

Local media outlets report that 37-year-old Kelly Ladner of Hattiesburg was found dead Saturday. Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem says Ladner’s cause of death is unknown.

Hattiesburg Police Department spokesman Lt. Branden McLemore says officers received a call about an unresponsive female around 2 p.m. at a residence. When officers arrived, they discovered Ladner dead at the scene.

McLemore says Ladner’s boyfriend, 34-year-old Joe Michael Shaw Jr., was later arrested. He is charged with first-degree murder in connection with Ladner’s death. It isn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.

Ladner’s body has been sent to the State Crime Lab in Jackson.
