COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Authorities in Columbus say one person is dead and two were critically injured after a car slammed head-on into another vehicle.

Crews arrived at the scene of the crash around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. One person was pronounced dead at around 6 p.m.

Three others who were in the car that was hit were taken to local hospitals. They are expected to survive.

The names of those involved have not been released.

Rodger and April Green tell The Columbus Dispatch that they saw a car swerve around them at a high rate of speed and clip the next car he tried to pass before smashing into a third.

Authorities tell WCMH-TV that they are waiting on results to determine if alcohol contributed to the crash.
