ROWLAND HEIGHTS, Calif. (AP) - A 33-year-old man who was arrested on investigation of murder after fatally shooting his father has been released from jail.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is considering charges for Christopher Morey after he shot and killed his 54-year-old father Michael John Morey.

The elder Morey shot and killed his bedridden wife, Betty Jean Morey; his son’s 48-year-old girlfriend, Linda Patricia Merrell, who also lives at the house in Rowland Heights; and a 27-year-old house guest, Ernesto Calzadilla, on New Year’s Eve before Christopher Morey recovered the gun and shot his father.

The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1muNCYC) that Morey had been held in lieu of $1 million bail, but he has since been released from custody pending further investigation.
