THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - A new fire station in Thibodaux is nearing completion.

Architect Kevin Gros, of Weimer Gros Flores Architecture and Interior Design, tells The Courier (https://bit.ly/1MOPksL) that the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department’s newest location is about 90 percent complete and should be finished by the end of the month.

Gros says the contract completion date is Feb. 8, but the fire station may be ready before then.

Gros says most of the major building components are in place and that they’re working to put the finishing touches.

The station will be more than 6,000 square feet and include space for three fire trucks, a meeting room, an office and showers.

Construction costs are about $1.6 million, with tax dollars helping pay for the station.
