PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A Pierre man accused of raping a teenage girl in a home where he had done plumbing work is being held without bond.

Thirty-year-old David Timmons is facing a rape charge that could land him in prison for life if he’s convicted. He could enter a plea at a Feb. 17 hearing.

Timmons last week asked Magistrate Judge Leo Disburg to grant him bail, saying he wasn’t a flight risk. Disburg sided with prosecutor Graham Oey, who requested no bond, saying Timmons was a flight risk and also a danger to the girl.

The Capital Journal reports that a major factor in the judge’s decision was that Timmons’ parents refused to accept custody of him while his case proceeds.
