LISBON, Portugal (AP) - While leader Sporting Lisbon and defending champion Benfica both laid down 6-0 wins on Wednesday, FC Porto drew 1-1 against Rio Ave to slip to third place in the Portuguese league.

Sporting got doubles from Islam Slimani and Bruno Cesar along with goals by Joao Mario and substitute Alberto Aquilani to cruise at Setubal, extending its lead to four points.

Benfica moved into second, ahead of Porto on goals, after Luis “Pizzi” Afonso and Jonas also netted braces, with Raul Jimenez and substitute Talisca adding goals, to rout visitors Maritimo.

Porto went ahead through Hector Herrera, only to concede an equalizer to Rio Ave’s Joao Novais before halftime.

Porto coach Julen Lopetegui will be under increased pressure following a third straight game without a win.
