CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Eleven people were taken to hospitals after a school bus and an SUV collided in Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokeswoman Yaviri Escalera told local media that eight students on the bus were taken the hospital as a precaution after the wreck shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday.

Escalera said the bus driver was also taken to the hospital. None of the injuries appeared to be serious.

Emergency medical workers in Charlotte say two people in the SUV were also taken to the hospital. The SUV caught fire in the wreck.

The bus carried students at John Morehead Stem Academy.
