ELGIN, S.C. (AP) - Richland County deputies say they have charged a man with murder in the shooting deaths of two men whose bodies were found in December 2014 as friends were dropping off Christmas presents.

Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release that 33-year-old Ryan Padgett was arrested Tuesday after investigators were finally able to link him to the killings. He didn’t say what evidence led deputies to arrest the suspect.

Authorities say 28-year-old Mark Cox and 54-year-old Tyrone Richardson were found dead on Dec. 26, 2014. Both were shot in the upper body.

Padgett remains in jail. Deputies didn’t know if he had a lawyer to speak on his behalf.
