PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Fire destroyed a home in rural Washington County.

Matt Johnston of Forest Grove Fire & Rescue says neighbors reported Thursday’s fire after waking up to see the house fully engulfed.

He says it took firefighters 25 minutes to arrive at NW Finger Creek Drive, and another 25 minutes to extinguish the flames. A vehicle also caught fire, causing a covered parking area to collapse.

Nobody was home when the fire started. Johnson says a dog is missing, and it’s unknown if it died or ran away.

The cause and damage estimate have not been determined.

Because of the rural location, firefighters had to bring water to the scene using water tenders which carry 3,000 gallons.

Crews from Cornelius and Banks assisted Forest Grove firefighters.
