ARTESIA, N.M. (AP) - The Artesia Daily Press says former editor Harry Readel has died.

The newspaper announced that Readel died Wednesday at his Carlsbad home. He was 75.

Details of his death were not released.

Readel began with the Daily Press as city and sports editor from 1972-75, covering the Artesia High School athletic programs.

Readel returned to the paper in 2000 as editor and served in that position until his retirement in 2007.

Services are pending.
