WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say there was no danger posed by a pair of backpacks carried by a person they described as acting suspiciously at a Florida Navy installation.

Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office spokesman Eric Davis said Thursday that the agency’s bomb squad and arson unit determined the backpacks contained only personal items.

They were left outside the Navy Reserve Center in West Palm Beach, triggering an evacuation of the center and closure of nearby streets. The center is near Palm Beach International Airport.

The sheriff’s office says the person carrying the backpacks was detained without incident. There were no immediate details about why the person was considered suspicious or whether any criminal charges will be filed.
