ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Police say a 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the stabbing of an Ormond Beach couple in their home.

According to media outlets, Ormond Beach Police Capt. James Crimins says Michael Phillips was arrested Wednesday. Online jail records show Phillips is charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder.

Police say the incident happened Dec. 27, when 27-year-old Shelly Phillips awoke early that morning to find a man in her living room.

She says the man stabbed her as she called for her husband, 30-year-old Adam Phillips, who was also stabbed as he entered the room.

Police developed Michael Phillips as a suspect based on the couple’s descriptions of the attacker. He is not related to the victims.

It isn’t clear whether he has an attorney.
