RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Gov. Pat McCrory’s press secretary during his successful 2012 campaign is working for him again.

Ricky Diaz is the deputy campaign manager for communications for the governor’s re-election bid. The campaign made the announcement Thursday as it unveiled a list of key campaign staff.

Since the 2012 election, Diaz worked briefly in McCrory’s gubernatorial press office before becoming communications chief for the Department of Health and Human Services. He then worked at a Washington-based consulting firm before returning to North Carolina politics last March as senior communications adviser at the state Republican Party.

McCrory’s 2016 campaign team includes other 2012 campaign veterans, including campaign manager Russell Peck and finance director Billy Constangy. Fred Davis is McCrory’s media consultant again.

Chris LaCivita is the chief strategist for the 2016 campaign.
