ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Republican U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte faces a primary challenge in his bid for a 13th term.

The Roanoke Times reports (bit.ly/1SCIcXy) that Harry Griego, who unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for a House of Delegates seat last spring, has announced he will oppose Goodlatte in the 6th congressional district. The district stretches from Roanoke north to Warren County.

Griego is a pilot and Air Force veteran from Roanoke County.

Goodlattte, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has faced only one other primary challenge since his election in 1992. State election records show he has won every election with at least 60 percent of the vote.

No Democrat has announced a campaign against Goodlatte in the November general election.
