SAN DIEGO (AP) - Ronnie Boyce III scored a career-high 22 points and San Francisco held off San Diego 73-65 on Thursday.

Boyce was 7 of 14 from the floor - including 5 of 6 beyond the arc - and added seven rebounds for USF (9-6, 3-2 West Coast). The Dons made 8 of 14 on 3-point attempts overall. Devin Watson scored 16 points, Tim Derksen had 12 points with nine boards, and Uche Ofoegbu added 11.

San Diego (5-9, 0-3) was led by Vasa Pusica with 19 points, despite going 1 of 6 on 3-pointers. Jito Kok added 15 points and four blocked shots.

Three consecutive 3-pointers - two by Boyce - midway through the first put USF up 21-13, and the Dons led by seven, 31-24, at intermission.

San Diego got as close as four several times in the second half, but couldn’t get over the hump. USF made 6 of 8 from the line late to ice it.
