HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The Hendersonville Fire Department will have to repair two firetrucks damaged by pink wrappings used during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Hendersonville Fire Chief Joseph Vindigni tells local media that a cutting tool used to install the pink wrapping along the trucks last year caused cuts and scratches on the paint. He also says a clear coat of paint came off during the wrapping process.

Both trucks will now be repainted. Combined, Vindigni says the damage to the two firetrucks totaled about $67,000, a sum that was covered by insurance.

The department says it still plans on wrapping the trucks in pink again next year to support the cause.
