YORK, Pa. (AP) - A former central Pennsylvania construction company employee has been acquitted of criminal charges after two co-workers were thrown from a van he was driving and killed.

Luis Behrensen was found not guilty of all charges in York County Thursday, including two counts of homicide by vehicle.

State police had said the York man was driving more than 80 mph in a 55 mph zone on U.S. Route 30 in July 2014. Police said the van veered into the right lane, clipped a pickup truck and slid off the highway, rolling several times.

Fifty-two-year-old Jack Mason III and 36-year-old Jerry Eady, both of York, died at the scene.

An assistant public defender who represented Behrensen argued he had a sudden blackout at the wheel.

Behrensen could not be immediately reached.
