CENTERVILLE, Utah (AP) - Authorities have arrested a teen who they say led officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen car before crashing the vehicle in Centerville.

KSL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1O88tKl ) that the 17-year-old was expected to be booked into a juvenile facility in connection with the Wednesday night incident.

Police Sgt. Zan Robison says an officer had recognized the vehicle was stolen and tried to stop the car, but the teen ran a red light and sped off.

Police say speeds during the chase reached about 80 mph until the tire on the stolen vehicle became disabled, lowering the vehicle to about 40 mph.

The teen eventually crashed near a trailhead.

Police say he tried to run away but a police dog quickly tracked him down.
