BLUEWELL, W.Va. (AP) - State Police have charged a man in an accident that killed a female pedestrian in southern West Virginia.

Cpl. P.H. Shrewsbury in Princeton tells media outlets that the accident occurred Thursday night on U.S. Route 52 in Bluewell. Twenty-eight-year-old Aubie Neal East III of Bluefield was charged with driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident.

East was arraigned Friday in Mercer County Magistrate Court and ordered held on $100,000 bond. It wasn’t immediately known whether East has an attorney.

Shrewsbury says the woman died at the scene. The victim’s name wasn’t immediately released.
