WIND CAVE NATIONAL PARK, S.D. (AP) - Wind Cave National Park is offering free tours to visitors for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The tours will be free of charge on Jan. 18 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Visitors can view the boxwork formations that make the cave famous. The quarter-mile route is moderately strenuous and lasts an hour.

Park Superintendent Vidal Davila says it’s a great time of year to visit the park. Davila says the cave is typically warmer than it is outside, so a tour is a good way to escape the cold.

Tickets are available to those who arrive first.
