NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say nine people have been arrested and nearly 1 million packets of heroin were seized during a raid of a home in the Bronx.

The Drug Enforcement Agency says federal agents, New York City police and state troopers raided the home in the University Heights neighborhood on Thursday as part of a long-term heroin investigation.

They say packets of heroin were scattered on tables and packed in boxes, suitcases and plastic bags. They say there was also evidence the home was being used as a heroin packaging facility.

Investigators say they seized about 1 million prepackaged glassine envelopes and nearly $250,000 in cash.

The DEA says the drugs had an estimated street value of about $15 million.

The nine people who were arrested each face felony drug possession charges.
