SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Scottsdale say they’ve arrested a man who allegedly built a drug lab in his apartment.

They say 35-year-old Samuel Oliphant is facing various drug-related charges.

Police say he also was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Officers responded to the Optima Sonoran Village apartment complex on Thursday after management reported a strong and unusual odor emanating from one of the units, later determined to be Oliphant’s residence.

Police say officers saw items inside that were consistent with some type of laboratory and called the Scottsdale Fire Department for a hazmat situation.

The lab was taken apart and impounded for testing.

Police say officers also discovered marijuana inside Oliphant’s apartment.

It was unclear Friday if Oliphant has a lawyer yet.
